About

Approach
Rachel Groves is an enthusiastic fundraising consultant with 10 years' experience in the voluntary sector. She has extensive experience of devising and implementing fundraising strategy, encompassing companies, trusts, statutory sources, earned income, major donors and events.

Her usual approach is to come and meet you for a coffee and an chat, followed by providing a written assessment of your strengths and likely areas for income growth free of charge.  After that, you can decide if you think she can help you raise those vital funds.

Background
After 8 years in the commercial sector in sales & marketing, Rachel decided to dedicate her time to raising money for more important issues and made the transition to fundraising. Her experience includes working major national charities, such as the NSPCC and Citizens Advice, as well as smaller local charities with a very specific remit, such as Finsbury Park Homeless Families Project and the Northmoor Trust. In the 10 years she has worked in fundraising, she has raised funds from individuals thanks to direct marketing campaigns, major donors, companies, trusts and statutory sources, as well through community fundraising committees and events.

Experience
Rachel joined the voluntary sector in 2001, as Corporate Fundraising Manager at the NSPCC. She was responsible for generating all new national corporate support and achieved new income streams of over £4.5 million whilst in post. Following on from this, Rachel decided on a whim to enter the first series of The Apprentice as a candidate and took time off proper work to take part. Having been booted out, Rachel returned to the voluntary sector as Head of Fundraising for national problem solving charity Citizens Advice. She left this role in March 2008 and has since been working as an independent consultant to the Voluntary Sector, working for a wide range of clients.

Throughout her life, Rachel has also assisted many charities on a voluntary basis, including Abney Park cemetery, as a Trustee for the Old Firestation and working with Wantage Independent Advice Centre to look at alternatives to statutory funding. Rachel is a full member of the Institute of Fundraising and abides by the Institute's codes of conduct for Fundraisers and Fundraising Consultants.
